Paulie Malignaggi trust Conor McGregor could trouble Floyd Mayweather after sparring with the Irishman.
The former two-time world fisticuffs champion shared the ring with McGregor for eight rounds previously this week.
And he revealed the Irishman has an hearty game plan.
“I can’t publish too much but McGregor is no dummy,” Malignaggi told NYFights .
“There’s a method to his madness. He has an idea of what he wants to do and how he wants to do it, he’s not clueless.
“He’s not your common pugilist by any means but he’s capable and his power is good.
“Whether that can be workable is up to him, but he’s no dummy.”
Malignaggi also accepted McGregor’s unique style could surprise Mayweather.
“To say a mixed warlike artist is coming into boxing and wouldn’t be beastly is an understatement,” he told ESPN . “He’s going to have his own style and set of things he does. He’s got a game plan. It’s not what people think.
“I’ll put it like this: He knows what he wants to do and he has a system of how he wants to get there. The mechanism of how he gets there may look, to the naked eye, ‘hmm, I don’t know about this.’ But there’s a method to his madness. He’s a thinker.”
